Major Milk Adulteration Racket Busted In Bhandup; Mulund, Too, Under Threat!!
A major milk adulteration racket was exposed in Bhandup on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, when FDA (Food and Drug Administration) officials raided milk distribution centres in the wee hours and destroyed 2000 litres of adulterated milk and arrested the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
Acting upon a tip-off, the FDA officials raided a house in Tulsetpada and Sonapur region in Bhandup West and were left dazed to find the miscreants coolly adulterating ‘pure’ milk of ‘branded’ companies by adding water and extracting pure milk from the packets!!
Adulterated milk is dangerous to the health of citizens but, alas, some miscreants are involved in this dirty business in the lure of making easy money. Recently, FDA raided shops selling adulterated milk in Bhandup and Mulund and destroyed adulterated milk. Interestingly, while a handful of anti-social elements are playing with the lives of the people, there are a few good Samaritans, too, who are concerned about the welfare of the society. One such social activist, Dilip Patil, has been working against the milk adulteration Mafia. Dilip got the information about the illegal business of milk adulteration being carried out at Bhandup’s Tulsetpada and Sonapur region. Hence, he alerted the FDA.
In the raid, FDA officials destroyed 2,000 litres of adulterated milk. Dilip Patil, who accompanied the FDA in the raid, told Home Times, “We were left shocked to witness the miscreants mixing water in the packets of branded milk of reputed milk companies like Gokul and Mahananda. After mixing water, these miscreants cleverly sealed the originally branded milk packets with a candle flame. Thus, it is no wonder that the residents in Bhandup and Mulund are getting adulterated milk which is dangerous to their health.”
Vajja Janaiah and Gangadhari Sathaia have been arrested in this connection. They have been charged with adulteration of milk and playing with the lives of citizens.
