GOD HELP SHALIMAR PADA RESIDENTS!!

Shalimar Pada in Mulund Colony presents a nauseating sight! Bad roads, overflowing gutters and heaps of garbage haunt the locals here, adding to their woes. Fed up of this sorry state of affairs, they have taken up the matter with BMC T-Ward and have lodged an official complaint to address their grievances. But, as is their won’t, the BMC officials have hitherto not responded positively to the locals’ plight, leading to a lot of heart-burning and frustration amongst these victims of T-ward’s apathy.

According to reports, the residents of Shalimar Pada in Mulund Colony have been bearing the brunt of multiple woes since some time now. Many roads and pavements here have been laid with paver blocks which are lying in a damaged condition. What’s more, huge potholes dot these paver block-laid roads. The drainage lines laid to carry water from the homes are choked with filth, leading to dirty water overflowing on the road. The ghosts of Malaria and Dengue seem to haunt the residents of this area owing to this filth, according to the residents. Also, the gutter lids are open which are a sure invitation to mishaps, especially at night time. To add to these woes, in the absence of dustbins, the locals have started dumping garbage at the periphery of the garden in the locality, so that a garbage mound can be seen at the entrance of the garden. This poses a serious threat to the health of the kids and senior citizens who frequent the garden. The narrow, damaged road here may also result in accidents, allege the residents here.

Shalimar Pada resident of 26 years, Bhupinderji claims that he has been putting up with this ugly state of affairs since nearly four years now and is stooping under the burden of these never-ending woes. The gutter, lying closed for twenty long years, has been repaired at last but what about the other contentious issues? No one in authority has come forward to address these problems. Even the local Corporator, Neil Somaiya, has only assured that he would speak to the concerned officials. All problems relating to bad roads, garbage pile-ups and over-flowing gutters remain as they are. No solution in sight!!  BMC T-Ward fast asleep. No chance of waking up soon. God help Shalimar Pada residents!!!
