SUICIDE, KIDNAPPING IN MULUND!!

8th March is celebrated the world over as International Women’s Day, but back home in Mulund, the eve of this historic day was marred by suicide by a lady and kidnapping of a minor girl. This twin piece of depressing news has cast a veil on the safety and security of women in Mulund and elsewhere.

Recently, a survey conducted on Women’s Safety had concluded that the weaker sex is not safe in Mumbai. Just a few days after this finding, news has come of a woman’s suicide and a minor girl’s kidnapping in Mulund. Ankita Pillai, a resident of Om Shrishti CHS was staying with her husband. On Thursday, at around 12.30 pm, Ankita jumped off the 13th floor of Gulmohur Heights. The deceased was staying with her husband and her one-month son. Of late, she seemed to be quite depressed over her husband’s and mother-in-law’s harassment to her, as per reports. Mulund Police have arrested the husband, Rohan Iyer(30) and her mother-in-law Padma Iyer(60) on the deceased’s paternal uncle’s complaint, after an investigation.

Another worrisome incident has taken place at Amar Nagar where a 16-year old girl has been kidnapped as per the complaint lodged by the girl’s parents on 3rd February. Mulund police have registered a kidnapping complaint against an unknown person.
