PUPPIES SMUGGLED IN LUXURY BUS; DRIVER-CLEANER DUO ARRESTED!!
Recently, an animal activist group, with the assistance of Navghar Police, busted a smuggling racket in a luxury bus. This was no ordinary smuggling ploy. Readers may have heard of various species of animals like cows, buffaloes, goats, tortoises and even birds being smuggled for monetary gains. But, smuggling puppies is something altogether new. It seems dog’ puppies were being smuggled in a luxury bus when this racket was busted last week by animal activists and Navghar Police acting on a tip-off. The bus driver and the cleaner have been arrested in this connection. The cruelty with which the poor pups were being transported proved costly for the accused. The Benevolent Association of Animal Welfare, an animal activist group, spearheaded this campaign after being tipped-off that a private luxury bus was illegally transporting puppies to the city. Thereafter, the police conducted a nakabandi at Mulund’s Anand Nagar Toll Naka and, with the assistance of Navghar Police, stopped the private bus coming towards the city from Indore. Upon conducting a search, the police found that 4 Labrador puppies and 1 Pug puppy were found tied up and bundled in the trunk of the bus. The pups were duly rescued, but their confinement in a corner in the dark trunk has made their condition precarious. Based on the complaint of this animal activist group, the police have arrested the accused, namely, Sukhjeet Singh and Ranjit Singh who have been booked under the Animal Protection Act.
The condition of the pups is said to be serious and they are being presently treated. According to animal activist Nirali Kordia, the innocent pups were kept in a small basket in the trunk where there was no room to breathe properly. What’s more, the unfortunate and hapless pups could not even move freely. Hence, when they were rescued, they could not even walk properly. Since there were no proper documents, a charge of illegal smuggling has been levied against the heartless duo. Both, the driver and the cleaner have been sternly interrogated by Navghar Police. Kudos to the intrepid animal activists and Navghar Police. May their tribe increase!!
