Horrendous!!!

Vegetables Washed In Pothole-filled Rainwater!!

Bhandup: The torrential rains in Mumbai may have crippled the lives of Mumbaikars, but have proved a boon for vegetable vendors! How? Well, a vegetable vendor was caught on camera washing the leafy green vegetables from the pothole-filled rainwater in Bhandup!! The shocking video has gone viral on WhatsApp and has given rise to a very pertinent question: Are Bhandup’s vegetable vendors playing with the health of Bhandup citizens???

What is most frightening is that the pothole where the lady vegetable is seen washing vegetables has a toilet chamber beneath it. Hence, there is every possibility of the filthy water from the chamber mixing with the rainwater in the pothole thus contaminating the vegetables instead of cleaning them!! Readers may remember, a few months back Home Times had exposed vegetable vendors in Mulund washing leafy green vegetables from the sewage (gutter).

Home Times urges citizens not to consume such vegetables. We recommend, before cooking, to wash all vegetables under running water and in case of green leafy vegetables, it is preferable to wash them in boiled water to kill the invisible micro-organisms.
