HOUSEHOLD STUFF SOLD TO BUY GUTKHA!! Gutkha worth 5,000/- seized
This is interesting, indeed! A minor from Mulund’s Vaishali Nagar sold his costly household stuff to satisfy his urge for gutkha. To satiate his hunger for this narcotic, the youngster had borrowed much money from outside. To settle his dues owed to the paan vendor, he started stealing costly articles from his own house.
It must be remembered that once having succumbed to vice, is becomes very difficult to kick the habit. The minor from Vaishali Nagar fell victim to gutkha and wanted more and more of it. He resorted to stealing expensive household items to satisfy his craving for this intoxicating agent.
When the minor’s parents discovered his wayward habit, they took the assistance of Mulund’s Gayatri Seva Sanstha’s President, Bharti Choudhary in whom they confided wholly. As a consequence, Bharti and her Sanstha workers went to Vaishali Nagar’s paan stall and searched the premises. To their surprise, they found Rs. 5,500 worth of gutkha along with hookah powder stashed there. The group immediately informed the police who arrived at the spot and confiscated the contraband.
What is quite intriguing is that the paan stall selling this nasha is just a stone’s throw away from Mulund’s Beat Chowki No.1. Though there is a ban across Maharashtra on the sale of gutkha and like intoxicants, the brazenness with which such stuff is sold openly at paan shops has made Mulund Police sit up and take strict notice. Radheshyam Sharma, the paan stall owner, has been arrested and further investigations are under way.
The gross violation of the ban on sale of such narcotic substances in Mulund portends a bleak future for Mulund’s younger generation who are likely to fall easy prey to addiction, if immediate steps are not taken to curb this menace. Mulund’s law enforcement agencies would be well-advised to stem this rot at the earliest by acting against both, the gutkha sellers and the gutkha mafia in accordance with the law.
