GOLDEN JACKAL ATTACKS MINOR IN BHANDUP

In a bizarre incident, a minor school student has been bitten by a golden jackal. The news has created chaos and fear among other school students in Bhandup.

According to reports, Vidyadhiraja High School in Bhandup East is located close to Bhandupeshwar Talav, which is covered with a thick mesh of mangroves and in these mangroves reside golden jackals. Locals allege a golden jackal had earlier bitten a dog. These jackals survive on rats, birds, crabs and tiny creatures available in the mangroves. However, sometimes, when they do not get their staple prey, these hungry jackals come out of the mangroves in search of other prey.

A resident told Home Times, “Ever since dumping of garbage has been started in Kanjur Marg dumping ground, many jackals have entered Bhandup. It is believed that one such jackal roaming in hunt of prey could have attacked the schoolboy on Thursday morning. However, the locals informed the police and the Plant and Animal Welfare Association whose members caught the jackal and released it in its natural habitat.

The boy has been admitted to a civil hospital and is recuperating. However, there is commotion and terror among the school’s students.
