BMC+Metro = Miserable Mulundkars!!!

Each year after the monsoon, BMC starts civil work like repairing of roads, drainage work like cleaning nullahs, side stripes and digging work to level the potholes and craters caused due to the fury of incessant rains. However, the residents complain that though BMC undertakes these tasks annually, there is hardly any difference seen on the road after the work is completed!! Instead, BMC work creates hurdles and causes inconvenience and nuisance to Mulundkars like traffic jams, etc.

Once again, BMC has started digging at many places in Mulund. Hence, Mulundkars are annoyed and agitated. According to a Home Times survey, work has been started at N.S. Road, Dada Saheb Gaikwad Road, Shahid Mangal Pandey Road, K. V. Thakkar Marg, Dumping Road, R.P. Road, etc.

An irritated Gyaneshwar Babasaheb Pawar told Home Times, “On the one hand, the Metro work in Mulund has already made our life difficult. To rub salt to injury, the BMC work of repairing footpaths, side stripes and road work has added to the woes of Mulundkars.” He added, “There are huge traffic jams on the roads and, in a bid to move ahead, motorists are breaking traffic norms, and this is causing accidents.”

Madhuben Bhinde, a senior citizen lady, told Home Times, “Due to the BMC repair work and Metro work, life has become miserable for senior citizens like us as we cannot move out of our house for fear of an accident. Everywhere there is digging work, hence walking on the road is a nightmare. Secondly, if we move out in our car, then the traffic jam literally kills us.”

Another resident condemned the snail’s speed of the work. He said, “Due to snail’s speed of the work is giving motorists a massive headache. Besides traffic jams, the pollution due to dust and filth kept outside the drains emanates a foul smell, causing breathing problems.”
