Vidhan Sabha Candidates Fill Forms Amidst A Display Of Party Strength

Political leaders of various political parties filed their nomination for the Assembly seats on Thursday with pomp and spectacle. In Mulund, BJP Candidate Mihir Kotecha, Congress-NCP party’s Govind Singh, MNS’ Harshada Chavan and other independent candidates filed their nominations, displaying their party’s individual strength.

From Tuesday, October 1, 2019, the rush at the Election Commission office in Mulund East was seen to be believed. Every candidate who filed his/her nomination form was accompanied by a huge crowd of party activists and followers. As a result, to avoid traffic jam the police had to slog hard. According to Home Times till Friday evening 17 nomination forms were filled.

The battle for the Assembly Election is almost similar to the last Lok Sabha election. The Shiv Sena, despite condemning BJP for its various policies and having grudges against the BJP government, is once again contesting the election in alliance with BJP. The RPI has also joined the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance. Thus, the alliance is a strong contender for winning the election. The opposition, on the other hand, looks feeble. Though the Congress and NCP may be in alliance, their sheen is lost. Likewise, the Raj Thackeray-led MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) is independently contesting the election. The Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), led by Dalit leader Prakash Ambedkar is also independently contesting and eyeing to win the Dalit votes. In Mulund, all these parties are wooing voters to win the polls.

On Thursday, October 3, 2019, Mihir Kotecha, the candidate from Mulund representing the grand alliance parties BJP-Shiv Sena-RPI, filed his nomination by displaying a strong roadshow of his parties’ strength near the Shiv Sena Shakha office in Mulund East before reaching the Election Commission office in Mulund East.

Congress-NCP party’s Govind Singh filed his nomination paper on Friday, October 3, 2019, the last day of filling the Assembly Election form. Govind Singh reached the Election Commission office with a massive crowd. Also present in the rally was Congress leader and ex-MLC Charan Singh.

On Friday, October 3, 2019, even the MNS candidate Harshada Chavan filled her nomination. She was accompanied by MNS activists including Rajesh Chavan, Satyawan Dalvi, etc.

The independent candidates also filed their nomination forms.

Election Commission officers do a commendable job
To avoid any untoward incident or violence, the officers of the Election Commission did a commendable job. They had employed flying squads at all the three entry points of Mulund. Besides, the team of Election Commission officers is vigilant and keeping a hawk-eye on miscreants trying to woo voters by enticing them with money, liquor and gifts. The officers are also adhering to the Model Code of Conduct. Besides, the Election Commission has issued an App for the citizens to complain in case the Model Code of Conduct is being violated. In Mulund, the App has received till now just one complaint.
