OUTRAGEOUS! SOCIAL VIDEOS OR VICTIMS MORE IMPORTANT???

According to reports, 50% of the people killed in road accidents are not saved due to lack of immediate rescue in the golden hour. Earlier, people did not come forward to help a road accident victim for fear of being harassed by the police or prolonged legal formalities at the hospital. But now, despite Supreme Court’s new guidelines favouring good Samaritans, there is still delay in extending help to road accident victims because people have lost compassion and humanity! They have become more ‘society concerned’. Hence, instead of helping an accident victim on the road, there is a rush to make videos and upload the news on social media to earn praises from the so-called social friends.

Tragically, in this race to make videos, the victim loses his/ her life! Recently, in Bhandup, a 35-year-old youth lost his life due to public apathy and the stupid trend to make videos!

Recently, in a bizarre accident at Bhandup, a speeding dumper lost balance and rammed into a stationary tempo which, in turn, knocked down a youth standing nearby and flung him down to a depth of 15 feet! That’s not all! The speeding dumper even collided with two BEST buses. Fortunately, the alert bus drivers immediately raised an alarm and alighted all passengers from the buses. Hence, a major accident was averted.

The terrifying accident occurred in Bhandup. According to an eyewitness, the driver, Dharmendra Choudhary, carrying mud in his dumper, was ascending the uphill Tembhipada Road when, on reaching the top of the road, he lost balance. As a result, the dumper came tumbling down the road at a rapid speed and first rammed into a standing tempo and later into the two BEST buses!

In the unfortunate accident, the youth, Virendra Yadav, was badly injured. What is worse is that, after falling from a great height, he did not receive immediate help! Shamelessly and stupidly, people were more interested in making the video and clicking pictures to gain maximum mileage on social media while the youth lay unattended for over 15 minutes.

Eventually, a good samaritan, Ajinkya Bhosle, and his friends came to his rescue and rushed him to a nearby hospital but, alas, it was too late. The doctors declared Virendra Yadav dead on arrival!!! The police have arrested the driver, Dharmendra Choudhary, for reckless driving and are investigating the case.

The death of Virendra Yadav is a tight slap on the face of modern society which has become callous towards human beings and friendly with the social media. Incidentally, people forget social media is nothing but an illusion like a mirage in a desert!!
