SAND-LADEN TRUCK, CAR COLLIDE ON EEH

Accidents continue to occur on the killer Eastern Express Highway (EEH). On Monday, February 18, near Hari Om Nagar a truck loaded with sand collided with a taxi. In the brutal accident both, the driver of the truck and the taxi, were seriously injured. Due to the accident, the sand filled in the truck spilled all over the road, thus crippling the traffic for long hours!!

The Traffic Police quickly reached the accident spot on getting the information. However, it took a long time to remove the smashed vehicles from the road and clear the scattered sand. After 3 to 4 hours, the traffic retiurned to normalcy and the motorists heaved a sigh of relief.
According to statistics, in the past 2 weeks, this is the fifth accident on the killer EEH. In most of the accidents, it has been observed that many accidents take place owing to motorists driving at exceptionally high speeds due to which they lose control and end up in accidents. Hence, residents living in the vicinity have urged the RTO to put breaks on speeding and set a limit so that people do not drive above the set speed limits.

Two-wheeler drivers complain that due to the high speed of heavy vehicles like trucks, dumpers and cars their lives are at risk on the highway. Hence, they are forced to drive on the service road but, alas, the service road is also full of potholes which take their lives. Thus the two-wheeler riders are in a real dilemma!!!
