CR’s New Year Bonanza – first AC local train to start soon

In a New Year’s Bonanza to its commuters, the Central Railway is set to start its First AC local train either by end of December or early January 2020. On the lines of Western Railway, commuters on Central Railway, too, can now experience the luxurious journey of travelling on the AC local train.

According to a Central Railway official, the AC local train manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, has arrived in Mumbai and has won the hearts of people who have seen them. The AC local train is stationed at the Kurla car shed.

The major highlight of the AC local train is that, besides its stunning look, it has swanky and spacious coaches, electrically operated automatic door closure, GPS-based passenger information system, etc. The other highlight of the AC local train is that just as the first Metro service in Mumbai was driven by a lady motorman, likewise the First AC local train will be driven by a lady. Besides, the train will have only one single class i.e. there will be no second class. The ticket rates are still not decided.

According to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, within a year CR gets 6 more AC local trains.
